My Coaching Philosophy

My coaching approach is holistic, recognizing that every sector of life affects every other. Our coaching sessions will have a primary focus area (career, for example), but we will also examine other key aspects that may be impacting you — such as health, relationships, communication, self-image, etc. This approach sees you as a whole person whose desire is to integrate your growth and development into all areas of your life and work, creating a more fulfilling and meaningful experience.

My coaching philosophy is based on a “Be-Do-Have Model,” where we seek to align your actions and outcomes with your core self. By first becoming clear about who you are and what you care about (“be”), you are better able to make conscious choices (“do”) and produce outcomes (“have”) that are in alignment with your values and goals. This approach achieves more impactful results that are ultimately more satisfying — because they link back to what’s meaningful to you and what you want to create and experience.

I strive to form a collaborative partnership with my clients, where they find clarity and confidence in who they are and what they stand for, and build a set of skills and approaches for creating what they want in life and work.  It’s about building self-sufficiency, not dependency, so they are practicing and mastering a set of tools for their toolbox that they take with them when the coaching engagement ends. While I guide and support, it is the client who ultimately takes the actions to achieve their goals. This instills confidence in their own strength and resourcefulness, and empowers them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

If you’re looking for clarity, focus, learning, growth, and pathways to accomplishing your personal and professional objectives, I would be honored to work with you. Let’s start the journey towards achieving your goals together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good fit for coaching?

I work primarily with mid- to senior-level and emerging leaders to achieve peak performance and deliver impact and results through holistic, targeted coaching.  However, custom offerings are available for individuals of all levels needing targeted coaching support around specific issues, such as career development, communication, prioritization, and organization.

If you answer “yes” to any of the questions below, it might be a sign that coaching can accelerate your growth in your personal and professional life:

  • Are there places in your life or work where you are blocked or holding back?
  • Does fear keep you from making decisions or taking action?
  • Do you find yourself wanting more, better, or different – in any domain?
  • Are you overwhelmed by your “to-do” list?
  • Is “someday” part of your vocabulary?
What is your coaching style?

I am open, direct, curious, and human in my coaching style and communication.  I focus on fostering collaboration and connection in our interactions, and bring deep curiosity and listening — to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space for you to explore their thoughts, feelings, successes, and challenges.  I also flex and adjust my style and approach to best serve the style and needs of the client.  My care and compassion for clients is evident in my commitment to your learning, growth, and attainment of your goals.

What is needed to establish a strong coaching relationship?

My approach to coaching focuses on creating strong partnership with my clients to build a relationship of trust, integrity, and collaboration. When assessing fit, I consider three key criteria as essential to coaching success:

  1. Chemistry – We both feel like we mesh (“click”), the communication comes easy, and we see potential for partnering well together.
  2. Engagement – We both have a clear understanding of the role coaching can play in achieving goals and desired outcomes, and are interested in engaging in a coaching process together.
  3. Commitment – We both are willing to invest the resources of time, focus, energy, and finances to support making this endeavor a success.
How does the coaching process work?

Coaching begins with an in-depth Discovery Session, where we discuss the pre-work completed in advance of the meeting and establish how we will work together.  During our focused time together, we assess where you are now, where you want to be, and what route we are going to take to get you there. This includes a thorough discussion of your current opportunities and challenges, core values, key areas of focus, and desired outcomes of coaching.

Subsequent coaching sessions (usually 60-90 minutes) are generally conducted virtually, but may include some in-person meetings, depending upon the coaching agreement. Between scheduled coaching sessions, you may be asked to complete specific actions or assignments that support the achievement of your personally-prioritized goals.

For organizational clients, engagements may also include manager interview(s) to gain insight on the client, relevant assessment instruments, and additional 3-way meetings with the coach/client/manager (or sponsor) to vet goals, assess progress, and discuss a co-created development plan.

How long does coaching take?

The duration of coaching engagements varies depending on your needs and preferences, and the complexity of the objectives. For focused coaching (often related to one or two specific goals or issues), three to six months may be sufficient. For coaching involving in-depth development or change, you may find an extended period or ongoing relationship more beneficial. I also offer short-term, targeted coaching engagements when individuals may need additional support during acutely challenging times.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching and therapy differ in their approach and focus. While therapy is largely past-focused, aiming to help someone process and heal from mental health challenges in order to move forward in the present; coaching is present and future-focused. In coaching, we may examine the past to gain insight, but the primary objective is to use that information to look forward and ask “Now what?” and “How?”

Coaching helps individuals clarify their goals and uncover obstacles that are impeding their progress. While past experiences may be factored into coaching, the focus is more on utilizing that information to achieve future success.

How much does coaching cost?

Working with a coach requires both a personal commitment of time and energy as well as a financial investment. I offer a variety of coaching packages and pricing structures.

Judah was the first coach who helped me leverage my strengths and define roles that drive my passion. He has an uncanny ability to connect with people and guide them through difficult transitions with a calm demeanor. His compassion and caring are clearly visible in his interactions.

I would recommend Judah as immensely capable of bringing out the best in anyone anytime. He genuinely rejoices in success of human potential and is capable of leading the change to improve organizational effectiveness.

Lalit

Enterprise Business Strategy Analytics Leader, Finance

When I began working with Judah, I wasn’t sure what to expect from coaching because I was new to the process, but I knew what I hoped would be the end result of our work together. By working with Judah I was able to meet one of my biggest goals I’ve struggled with for years as well as other goals I didn’t realize I had.

To Judah, no target was ever out of reach as long as I was willing to work to get the end result, and he was there to push me outside of the box (even when I didn’t want to go) and congratulate me on my achievements (even when they felt minuscule). He offered the right mix of patience and persistence, and having completed my sessions with him, I’m amazed at the results.

Sarah

Digital Strategy Leader, IT Consulting

Judah and I worked together for 6 months in a coaching relationship focused on helping me take my long-held business idea and turn it into an executional plan. Judah helped me  explore my core values and beliefs to create a plan that aligned with my true self. I appreciated Judah’s challenges of any limiting thoughts I had and how he helped me look at more than just my business idea with fresh eyes and an open heart. I would not hesitate to recommend Judah to anyone looking for a coaching partner to reach established or new goals, challenge their limiting beliefs, or explore what they think is holding them back from getting more out of life.
